ABOUT Danby Parish Producers...
Danby Parish Producers originally called "The Danby Business Group"
was one of the sub committees developed out the Danby Group Parish
Plan Steering Group. It's members initially represented self employment,
agriculture, and retailing in the area. They met and
discussed the progress of the parish plan and also gave
suggestions, from a business point of view, for the content
of the Parish Plan Questionnaire.
Arising out of the parish plan, the business group were
surprised to find that there were over a hundred separate
businesses within the parish doing things as diverse as
arts and crafts to polymer design. With the encouragement
of the National Park and with help from the Countryside
Agency two projects were identified and completed. The
first was a 'Visitor Pack' that could be handed out to
visitors to the Parish that included various information
such as History, Walks, useful contact numbers and also a
list of all the businesses in the Parish. This was produced
in a folder format so that updates could be sent out as
details changed. Also a smaller version was produced and
delivered to homes within the parish. Several businesses
have already reported successful business from these books.
Indeed some people have them 'by the phone' along with the
other phone books. The second project was to have a
'Producer's Fair' where local producers could show their
goods to the buying public. This was successfully held in
January of 2004, and, thanks to a very mild January day,
was a huge success with over 2000 people coming along to
see just what the producers of Danby could make.
Danby Parish Producers have held meetings since then where ideas
both large and small have been given an airing. The next
project for the Business Group will be a producers event on
Saturday the 2nd of July 2005 in Danby Village Hall.
Hopefully we will see you there. To Be Comfirmed.
